Silver lactate is a compound which has been shown to suppress superoxide anion formation in polymorphonuclear leucocytes. Studies indicate that Silver lactate is a beneficial stain used in von Kossa method to increase the detection of osteoblasts and other tissues that are plastic or parafin embedded. In addition, Silver lactate is effective at staining macrophage plasma membranes, which can be used to study the effects of lysomal membrane stability, via lysosomotropic photosensitizer Acridine Orange Stain (AO, sc-358795) within secondary lysosomes.
