QUICK LINKS

Silicone oil, also known as Poly(dimethylsiloxane) or PDMS, is a silicone-based polymer derived from the hydrolysis and poly-condensation of chlorotrimethylsilane, ethyl chlorosilane, and phenyl chlorosilane. It is a linear polysiloxane with both mono-functional and bifunctional groups. Silicone oil encompasses polydimethylsiloxane and polymethyl phenyl siloxane. This type of oil is transparent, colorless, odorless, non-toxic, and non-volatile. It exhibits excellent properties such as low freezing point, corrosion resistance to metals, good water and moisture resistance, low surface tension, and resistance to dilute acids and bases.
