SFMBT1 Antibody (FT-34) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects SFMBT1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-SFMBT1 antibody (FT-34) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. SFMBT1, also known as renal ubiquitous protein 1 (RU1), is an 866 amino acid protein characterized by high sequence similarity to the Drosophila scm protein, which serves as a transcriptional repressor crucial for Drosophila development. SFMBT1 is expressed across various cell lines and normal tissues, including the thymus, and predominantly localizes in the nucleus, where SFMBT1 plays a significant role in gene regulation. SFMBT1 features four MBT (Malignant Brain Tumor) repeats and one SAM (sterile alpha motif) domain, with the MBT motif being particularly important for recognizing methyl-lysine residues on histones, thereby influencing chromatin structure and function. As a member of the polycomb group proteins, SFMBT1 strongly associates with chromatin and functions as a transcriptional repressor, which is vital for maintaining cellular identity and regulating developmental processes. Two isoforms of SFMBT1 exist due to alternative splicing, further diversifying SFMBT1′s functional roles in cellular contexts.
