The serotonin creatinine sulfate complex is involved in the regulation of neurotransmission in the central nervous system. It acts as a precursor to the neurotransmitter serotonin, which plays a key role in mood regulation, appetite, and sleep. Within the experimental applications, the complex is utilized to study the biosynthesis and metabolism of serotonin, as well as its effects on various physiological processes. At the molecular level, the complex interacts with enzymes and cofactors involved in the synthesis of serotonin, influencing the availability of this neurotransmitter in the brain. This interaction provides insight into the mechanisms underlying serotonin-related disorders. The complex may be used to investigate the impact of serotonin on cellular signaling pathways and gene expression, contributing to a deeper understanding of its role in neuronal function.

hello, I would like to know in which reagent I could dissolve serotonin. I need it at 0.05M for my cell culture experiments. Could I dissolve it in DMEM/F12 media (it is the media that I use to grow my cells with)? Will serotonin exert its function?

Asked by: silvi
sc-215845 is soluble in DMEM/F12 media. It has been used in 1µM and 30µM concentrations in the below journal articles, respectively. Nikishin, D. A., et al. 2019. Int. J. Mol. Sci. 20(12). PMID: 31234589 Meiboom, M. F. Et al. 2013. Biochim. Biophys. Acta. 1828(11): 2564-2573

Hello, I would like to know if serotonin is soluble in pond water. I have made a solution of 30 mM/L in pond water. and also how much is it soluble in pond water? If I increase the water temperature can I increase solubility?

Asked by: Mohsenn
This solubility information is not available. This is soluble in 0.1 M HCl and 50 mg/ml in water.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from serotoninI have been doing cell titer glow assays with serotonin from sigma. it worked for about 6 months, their lot was about a year old. i was told your lot H0216 was 5 months old, for product SC215845. it did not work in my assay. i'm sure it passed all of your qc. was the lot really only 5 months old and would you be willing to make a new lot?
