Septin 6 Antibody (B-8) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Septin 6 (SEPT6) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-Septin 6 antibody (B-8) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Septin 6, also known as SEPT6, is a 434 amino acid protein that plays a crucial role in forming septin filaments, which are essential for various cellular processes such as membrane transport, apoptosis, and cytokinesis. These filaments form from asymmetrical heterotrimers composed of Septin 2, Septin 6, and Septin 7, which assemble into hexameric units, and their interaction with Septin 12 can modify filament structure, highlighting the dynamic nature of septin complexes. Proper functioning of Septin 6 is vital for maintaining cell polarity and regulating the cell cycle, making Septin 6 an important target for studies related to cancer and developmental biology. Additionally, Septin 6 undergoes phosphorylation in response to DNA damage, likely mediated by Atm or ATR, which underscores involvement in cellular stress responses. With nearly ubiquitous expression and highest levels found in the thymus, Septin 6 is conserved across multiple species, including dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, zebrafish, and fruit fly, and maps to human chromosome X, further emphasizing biological significance.
