SC-236 is a highly selective and potent inhibitor of Cox-2 (IC50 of 10 nM) which also inhibits Cox-1 (IC50 of 17.8 μM) and has antitumor properties. SC-236 exhibits longer half-life time and reduced gastric toxicity in the fasting rat model. SC-236 has antitumor properties and has been shown to induce apoptosis and bFGF and VEGF-driven angiogenesis. SC-236 exhibits a potent antimetastatic activity against both spontaneous metastases arising following primary tumour excision and experimental metastases.
