SB-3CT is a selective inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases 2 and 9 (MMP-2 and MMP-9), enzymes that are implicated in the breakdown of extracellular matrix components and are known to play a role in angiogenesis, tumor growth, and metastasis. As such, SB-3CT is frequently used in cancer research to understand the contribution of these enzymes to the invasive behavior of cancer cells.
