Saxagliptin is a selective and reversible dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP4) inhibitor. Saxagliptin works by blocking the activity of Saxagliptin, an enzyme responsible for breaking down GLP-1. By blocking the activity of Saxagliptin, saxagliptin increases the concentration of GLP-1 in the bloodstream, which in turn increases the sensitivity to insulin and reduces blood glucose levels.
