QUICK LINKS

Salicylic acid 2-O-beta-D-glucoside (SABG) is the predominant glycosylated metabolite of Salicylic Acid. It is an important intermediate in the biosynthesis of salicylic acid. It acts by inhibiting the activity of certain enzymes, such as cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, which are involved in the production of inflammatory mediators. In addition, Salicylic acid 2-O-beta-D-glucoside is a free radical scavenger, which can protect cells from oxidative damage. Furthermore, it may act to have anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-cancer, anti-allergic, and neuroprotective properties.
