SA-1 Antibody (LL-16) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects SA-1 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). SA-1, also known as STAG1, is a crucial 1258 amino acid component of the cohesion complex, which plays a vital role in maintaining the cohesion of sister chromatids following DNA replication. SA-1 is primarily localized in the nucleus, where SA-1 associates with chromatin, ensuring proper chromosome alignment and separation during cell division. SA-1′s function is underscored by SA-1′s interaction with Rad21, as SA-1 is essential for the structural integrity of the cohesion complex. Upon phosphorylation by Polo-like kinase (Plk), SA-1 dissociates from chromatin, facilitating the correct segregation of chromosomes during anaphase. SA-1 is expressed in key hematopoietic tissues such as the thymus, bone marrow, and spleen, and exhibits a remarkable 99% similarity to its mouse homolog, highlighting SA-1′s evolutionary conservation and significance in cellular processes. SA-1 (LL-16) antibody is an invaluable tool for researchers studying chromosomal dynamics and cohesion mechanisms in human cells.
