S-Trityl-D-cysteine-2-chlorotrityl resin, also known as STC-2 resin, is a type of resin used in solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS). It is used as a solid support for the synthesis of peptides and peptidomimetics. The resin is made up of a polystyrene core that is functionalized with trityl chloride groups. Trityl chloride is a protecting group used to temporarily block the amino group of amino acids during peptide synthesis. The chlorotrityl resin allows for the attachment of the first amino acid of the peptide sequence.
