S-(+)-Methoprene functions as an insect growth regulator by mimicking the action of juvenile hormone. This compound disrupts the normal development of insects by interfering with their growth and metamorphosis. S-(+)-Methoprene inhibits the development of larvae into pupae and prevents the emergence of adult insects.
