(S)-(+)-Dimethindene maleate is a chemical compound that belongs to the family of antihistamines. It is an enantiomer that is a subtype-selective mAChR M2, mAChR M1, mAChR M3, and mAChR M4 antagonist as well as a histamine H1 receptor antagonist. By blocking the histamine H1 receptor, (S)-(+)-Dimethindene maleate reduces the release of inflammatory mediators, such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. This leads to a decrease in inflammation, swelling, and itching. This compound has been used to investigate the role of histamine in various physiological processes, including inflammation, immune response, and allergic reactions.
