QUICK LINKS

S-Butyrylthiocholine chloride (BTCh) is a substrate to assay butyrylcholinesterase (BuChE) inhibitory activity. S-Butyrylthiocholine chloride is water soluble, dissolvable at 100 mg/mL. It is a bile acid derivative and the most abundant metabolite of the choline pathway. It has been used to study the effects of choline metabolism on various physiological processes, such as liver function, muscle contraction, and nerve conduction. In proteomics research, it functions as a building block. S-Butyrylthiocholine chloride is also a building block in other synthesis procedures.
