S-100A2 Antibody (159C2W) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects S-100A2 in human samples through various applications including western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and immunohistochemistry. S-100A2, a member of the S-100 protein family, is primarily located in the basal layer of the epidermis and hair follicles, where S-100A2 plays a crucial role in cellular processes. S-100A2 is known for calcium-binding properties, which are essential for interaction with other proteins, such as Tropomyosin, in a calcium-dependent manner. S-100A2′s location in the cell is significant due to involvement in maintaining skin integrity and regulating cell motility. In breast cancer, S-100A2 expression is often lost during the transition to malignancy, suggesting a potential role as a tumor suppressor in certain epithelial tissues by inhibiting cell migration. Neoplastic gastric epithelial cells express S-100A2 alongside other S-100 family members, indicating relevance in cancer biology and the need for further exploration of functions in both normal and pathological states.
