Rotavirus capsid Antibody (2B4) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects the inner capsid protein VP6 of Rotavirus origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Rotavirus capsid antibody (2B4) is available in a non-conjugated form, providing researchers with a versatile tool for studying this significant pathogen. Rotaviruses, belonging to the Reoviridae family, are double-stranded RNA viruses and are among the leading causes of gastroenteritis in infants and young children, with Rotavirus A being the most prevalent strain. The importance of VP6 protein lies in its role as a structural component of the virus, forming the inner layer of the capsid that protects the viral RNA genome. VP6 protein is crucial for viral stability and integrity, facilitating host cell infection and immune response evasion. VP6 protein serves as a target for neutralizing antibodies, making this protein a key focus for vaccine development. Understanding VP6 function and host cell machinery interactions can provide insights into rotavirus pathogenesis mechanisms and inform prevention and treatment strategies.
