QUICK LINKS

Rocaglamide is an immunosuppressant. It is known to potently and almost completely inhibit the activation of NF-κB, a protein complex that controls DNA transcription, in T cells. It has been found to suppress the production of cytokine and inhibit NF-AT in peripheral blood T cells. Unlike the immunosuppressant cyclosporin A, rocaglamide does not inhibit the activity of calcineurin phosphatase. It has been found to induce apoptosis in leukemia cells through the modulation of protein kinase activities that are activated by mitogen. Derivatives of rocaglamide display insecticidal activity.
