Robenidine hydrochloride, also referred to as 1,3-di(4-chlorophenyl)guanidine hydrochloride, is an organic compound. Robenidine hydrochloride has promise in both in vivo and in vitro experiments, making it useful for scientific applications. When utilized in laboratory experiments, robenidine hydrochloride exhibits several advantages over alternative compounds. Robenidine hydrochloride is hypothesized to function by inhibiting the enzyme monoamine oxidase (MAO), responsible for the degradation of monoamine neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. By impeding MAO, levels of these neurotransmitters increase.
