QUICK LINKS

Ro 41-5253 functions as a potent and selective inhibitor of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) protease. It exerts its mechanism of action by binding to the active site of the HIV-1 protease enzyme, thereby preventing the cleavage of viral polyproteins into functional proteins for viral replication. This inhibition ultimately disrupts the maturation of new viral particles, leading to the production of non-infectious progeny virions.
