Ritanserin acts as a serotonin receptor antagonist. It binds to 5-HT2A and 5-HT2C receptors, blocking the action of serotonin. Ritanserin is a potent and long-acting SR-2A. Ritanserin functions by binding to serotonin receptors without activating them, effectively blocking serotonin from binding and activating these receptors.
