Ribosomal Protein S17 Antibody (40-K) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Ribosomal Protein S17 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Ribosomal Protein S17 antibody (40-K) is available as the non-conjugated format. Ribosomal Protein S17, also known as RPS17, RPS17L1, or RPS17L2, is a crucial component of the 40S ribosomal subunit, which plays a vital role in protein synthesis within the cytoplasm. This 135 amino acid protein is part of the S17e family of ribosomal proteins and is expressed ubiquitously, highlighting an essential function in cellular metabolism. Proper functioning of Ribosomal Protein S17 is particularly important as mutations in the gene encoding RPS17 have been linked to Diamond-Blackfan anemia (DBA), a rare congenital disorder that impairs pro-erythroblast differentiation, leading to anemia. Additionally, the gene for Ribosomal Protein S17 is characterized by multiple processed pseudogenes scattered throughout the genome, reflecting the complexity and evolutionary significance of ribosomal proteins in mammalian biology.
