SEE ALSO...

Ribosomal Protein L36a Antibody (43-A) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects Ribosomal Protein L36a (RPL36a) of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RPL36a antibody (43-A) is available as the non-conjugated format. RPL36a, also known as RPL44 (ribosomal protein 44), MIG6 (cell migration-inducing gene 6), or L44L, is a crucial component of the 60S ribosomal subunit, consisting of 106 amino acids. RPL36a plays a vital role in protein synthesis, which is essential for cell growth and function. The proper assembly and function of ribosomes, which are composed of both ribosomal proteins and ribosomal RNA, are critical for translating mRNA into proteins, thereby influencing cellular processes and overall organismal health. RPL36a is ubiquitously expressed and localized in the cytoplasm, highlighting its importance in the fundamental process of translation across various tissues. Additionally, RPL36a exists as multiple processed pseudogenes scattered throughout the genome, indicating a complex evolutionary history and potential regulatory mechanisms that may influence its expression and function.

Does this antibody distinguish also recognise RPL36AL or is it really specific to RPL36A?

Asked by: SophiaJH
Thank you for your question. The antibody was raised against Ribosomal Protein L36a of human origin, but since RPL36A and RPL36AL protein sequences are virtually identical, with only a single mismatched amino acid, it is likely that the antibody would recognize both.

For Western Blot, is it recommended to use denatured or non-denatured conditions with Ribosomal Protein L36a (43-A): sc-100831 antibody?

Asked by: Trav11
Thank you for your question. We recommend this antibody for use in denatured Western Blot conditions. It has not been validated for use in non-denatured conditions. Please contact our Technical Service Department for further details or inquiries.
