RHBDL1 Antibody (5B11) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RHBDL1 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RHBDL1 antibody (5B11) is available as a non-conjugated format. RHBDL1, or rhomboid-related protein 1, is a crucial intramembrane serine protease that plays a significant role in regulating various cellular processes by cleaving type-1 transmembrane domains. RHBDL1 is composed of 438 amino acids and is characterized by a multi-pass membrane structure, essential for enzymatic activity. The catalytic mechanism of RHBDL1 involves a dyad of serine and histidine residues derived from different transmembrane domains, allowing effective substrate processing within the lipid bilayer. RHBDL1 expression occurs in vital tissues such as heart, brain, skeletal muscle, and kidney, where RHBDL1 influences signaling pathways related to growth factors and cellular communication. RHBDL1 can exist in two isoforms due to alternative splicing, which may further diversify functional roles in human physiology. The gene encoding RHBDL1 is located on human chromosome 16p13.3, highlighting genetic significance in health and disease.
