SEE ALSO...

Respiratory Syncytial Virus Antibody (2F7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Respiratory Syncytial Virus protein of Respiratory Syncytial Virus origin by western blotting (WB), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Respiratory Syncytial Virus antibody (2F7) is available as the non-conjugated format. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a significant pathogen responsible for severe respiratory illness, particularly in infants and young children who have not been vaccinated or treated. RSV is characterized as a negative-sense, enveloped RNA virus, with virions averaging between 120 and 300 nm in diameter. A critical aspect of RSV′s pathogenicity lies in its fusion protein, which facilitates the merging of viral and host cell membranes, allowing for viral entry and the formation of syncytia—multi-nucleated giant cells that can disrupt normal tissue function. Additionally, the matrix protein of RSV plays a vital role in the viral life cycle, not only aiding in viral assembly but also exhibiting the ability to traffic into and out of the nucleus at specific stages of infection. This nuclear trafficking is crucial as it may influence viral transcription and replication, thereby contributing to the virus′s ability to evade host immune responses and establish infection.
