Renin Antibody (A-1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects Renin in mouse, rat, and human samples through applications such as western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Renin antibody (A-1) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Renin plays a crucial role as a highly specific endopeptidase that catalyzes the conversion of angiotensinogen into Angiotensin I, which is subsequently transformed into Angiotensin II by angiotensin-converting enzyme I (ACE). This process is vital for the regulation of blood pressure and electrolyte balance, as Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor that influences vascular tone and fluid homeostasis. The release of Renin is stimulated by various physiological signals, including sympathetic nervous system activation, renal artery hypotension, and reduced sodium delivery to the distal tubules of the kidney. The Renin-Angiotensin system (RAS) is essential for maintaining blood volume, arterial pressure, and overall cardiovascular health. Renin is primarily synthesized and secreted by specialized smooth muscle cells in the juxtaglomerular apparatus of the kidney, although Renin expression has also been detected in other tissues, such as the brain, where the precise role remains to be fully elucidated.
