RDHE2 Antibody (36-N) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects RDHE2 in mouse, rat, and human samples through western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RDHE2 antibody (36-N) is available as a non-conjugated monoclonal isotype antibody. RDHE2, also known as epidermal retinal dehydrogenase 2 or retSDR2, is a crucial enzyme in the short-chain dehydrogenase/reductase family, playing a vital role in converting retinol to retinaldehyde, an essential step in the visual cycle and retinol metabolism. RDHE2 is predominantly expressed in fetal and adult lung tissues, as well as in fetal kidney and skin, and is localized to the cell membrane as a multi-pass membrane protein. RDHE2′s structural integrity is characterized by three conserved motifs typical of the SDR family: a TGXXXGXG motif, a YXXXK motif that serves as the active site, and an LXNNAG motif, all critical for enzymatic function. RDHE2′s importance extends beyond metabolism; RDHE2 has been implicated in psoriasis vulgaris, a chronic inflammatory skin condition, as evidenced by significantly upregulated RDHE2 mRNA levels in affected skin of psoriasis patients, highlighting RDHE2′s potential as a biomarker for disease progression and therapeutic target.
