RBBP9, also known as Retinoblastoma-binding protein 9, BOG, or RBBP10, is a 186 amino acid protein predominantly localized in both nucleus and cytoplasm, crucial for regulating cellular processes. Such dual localization allows RBBP9 to interact with various nuclear proteins and cytoplasmic signaling pathways, influencing cell proliferation and differentiation. RBBP9 functions as a binding partner for retinoblastoma protein (Rb), providing cellular resistance to growth-inhibitory effects of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGFβ1), essential for facilitating cellular transformation and potentially contributing to tumorigenesis.
