SEE ALSO...

rapsyn Antibody (1234) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects rapsyn protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and immunofluorescence (IF). anti-rapsyn antibody (1234) is available as a non-conjugated format. The RAPSN gene locus is located on chromosome 11p11.1-p11.2 and encodes a peripheral membrane protein that plays a crucial role in neuromuscular transmission. Rapsyn, or receptor-associated protein of the synapse, is primarily expressed in the postsynaptic membrane of skeletal muscle, where rapsyn is essential for the clustering of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChR). Rapsyn′s ability to self-associate through tetra-tricopeptide repeats facilitates interaction with the large intracellular domain of the nAChR α subunit, which is vital for proper localization and function of these receptors at the neuromuscular junction. Rapsyn not only modifies AChR trafficking within the cell but is also critical for agrin-induced AChR clustering, a process essential for functional synapse formation. Notably, absence of rapsyn leads to deficits in postsynaptic specialization formation, resulting in increased axonal branching and motoneuron survival, highlighting rapsyn′s importance in neuromuscular health and signaling.

What is the recommended fixation method for immunofluorescence staining with rapsyn (1234): sc-58585 monoclonal antibody?

Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your inquiry. We recommend fixing cells for 5 minutes in -10ºC methanol and allowing to air dry. The full protocol can be viewed here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunofluorescence-cell-staining
