QUICK LINKS

Ramiprilat is the active metabolite of Ramipril (sc-205833). Ramipril is an inhibitor of the angiotensin- coverting enzyme (ACE) that is reported to quickly hydrolyze into Ramiprilat, after absorption. Studies indicate that Ramipril is a more potent inhibitor in comparison to Zofenopril (sc-208496). Acute coronary syndrome investigations demonstrate that Ramipril increases IL-10, and decreases the levels of MCP-1 and IL-18. Ramiprilat has been reported to bind to ACE on the surface of endothelial cells and activate cell-specific signaling, which includes induction of the activator protein (AP)-1. Bradykinin signaling is prevented by Ramiprilat after it interferes with the targeting of B2 kinin receptors to endothelial cell membranes.
