RAG-2 Antibody (4D5C7) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects RAG-2 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-RAG-2 antibody (4D5C7) is available as the non-conjugated format. RAG-2 protein plays a crucial role in the immune system by facilitating V(D)J recombination, a process essential for generating diverse antigen receptor genes in B and T lymphocytes. RAG-2 protein, along with RAG-1, forms a complex that introduces double-strand breaks in DNA, allowing for the rearrangement of immunoglobulin and T cell receptor genes from multiple germ line segments. RAG-2 interaction with RAG-1 is vital for initiating the recombination process, which ultimately leads to the production of a wide array of antibodies and T cell receptors necessary for effective immune responses. RAG-2 is composed of a core domain essential for recombinase activity and a non-core region that, while not essential, may play a role in function regulation. RAG-2 expression in activated mature CD5-positive human tonsil B cells highlights importance in the adaptive immune response, as these cells coexpress both RAG1 and RAG2 mRNA and protein, demonstrating active engagement of the recombination machinery during lymphocyte development.
