Rab 36 is a member of the Ras-related superfamily of guanine nucleotide-binding proteins, which includes various subfamilies such as R-Ras, Rap, Ral/Rec, and Rho/Rab. Rab 36 plays a crucial role in transporting newly synthesized proteins from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi complex and secretory vesicles, a process essential for maintaining cellular function and homeostasis.
