Rab 28 Antibody (2C6) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects the Rab 28 protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Rab 28 (2C6) antibody is available as a non-conjugated format. Rab 28 protein, also known as MGC41862, is a member of the small GTPase superfamily and plays a crucial role in intracellular transport and signaling pathways, particularly in the regulation of organelle trafficking and cellular metabolism. This 221 amino acid protein is unique within the Rab family, exhibiting only 31 to 33% amino acid identity with other Rab proteins such as Rab 1A, Rab 6, Rab 11, and Rab 13, highlighting its distinct functional role. Rab 28 is expressed in two isoforms, S and L, which arise from alternative splicing; isoform S is widely distributed across various tissues including the cortex, liver, kidney, skeletal muscle, adipose tissue, and urothelium, while isoform L is predominantly found in the testis. The conservation of the Rab 28 gene across species such as chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, chicken, and C. elegans, along with its mapping to human chromosome 4p15.33, underscores its evolutionary significance. Additionally, pseudogenes of the Rab 28 gene are located on chromosomes 9 and X, indicating a complex genetic landscape surrounding this important protein.
