(R,S)-Nornicotine can catalyze aqueous aldol reactions. It is a metabolite of Nicotine. (R,S)-Nornicotine is an activator of AChR. Nornicotine exerts its effects by interacting with the nicotinic acetylcholine receptors found in the brain and body. These receptors play a role in the release of neurotransmitters, including dopamine and serotonin. By binding to these receptors, nornicotine stimulates their activation and facilitates the release of these essential neurotransmitters.
