(R)-4-Hydroxy Propranolol Hydrocbromide is a primary metabolite of (R)-(+)-Propranolol (sc-203678), the (R)-form of the b-adrenoceptor antagonist Propanolol (sc-3580). This metabolite is hydroxylated on the naphthalene portion of the parent compound, and is described to have b-adrenoceptor antagonist activity as well. (R)-4-Hydroxy Propranolol is useful as a marker compound for the presence of Propanolol in samples.
