(R)-2-Aminooctane is a chiral aliphatic amine widely used in the synthesis of other organic compounds, dyes, surfactants, polymers, peptide and peptidomimetic compounds. It is also used as a chiral ligand in asymmetric catalysis and a chiral auxiliar in asymmetric synthesis. It can form complexes with transition metal ions and act as a nucleophile, attacking electrophilic sites on other molecules.
