QUICK LINKS

Quinapril hydrochloride (Accupril) is an ACE angiotensin-converting enzyme) inhibitor with a Ki of 20 μM. Quinapril is a prodrug that is converted to its active metabolite, quinaprilat. Quinapril′s target, ACE, catalyses the formation of angiotensin II from its precursor, angiotensin I. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor and thus preventing its formation causes vasodilation and an increased capillary blood volume.
