QUICK LINKS

Pyropheophorbide-a possesses photophysical properties and can be activated by light with a wavelength of 630 nm. It is a natural catabolite that arises from the degradation of chlorophyll a induced by ethylene. The mechanism of action of Pyropheophorbide-a is intricate and involves the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) upon light exposure. When Pyropheophorbide-a interacts with light, it absorbs the energy and generates ROS, which subsequently react with cellular components, resulting in cell death. Moreover, Pyropheophorbide-a has demonstrated the ability to induce apoptosis in cancer cells and exhibit inhibitory effects on tumor growth and metastasis.
