pyridoxal kinase Antibody (E-2) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b kappa light chain antibody that detects pyridoxal kinase protein of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). pyridoxal kinase (E-2) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. Pyridoxal kinase plays a crucial role in the phosphorylation of vitamin B6, which is essential for its conversion to pyridoxal 5′ phosphate (PLP), the biologically active form of vitamin B6. PLP serves as a coenzyme in numerous enzymatic reactions, including those involved in amino acid metabolism, neurotransmitter synthesis, and the production of hemoglobin, thereby maintaining overall metabolic homeostasis. Pyridoxal kinase consists of 312 amino acids and is predominantly located in the cytoplasm, where pyridoxal kinase may function as a homodimer. Notably, three isoforms of pyridoxal kinase exist, with isoform 3 being specifically expressed in adult testis and spermatozoa, highlighting pyridoxal kinase′s potential role in reproductive biology. PDXK, located on chromosome 21q22.3, has been implicated as a candidate gene for autoimmune polyglandular disease type 1, a genetic disorder associated with this chromosomal region. Pyridoxal kinase exhibits optimal activity at a pH range of 5.5 to 6.0, making pyridoxal kinase particularly relevant in physiological conditions where pH may fluctuate.
