Pyranonigrin A is an antioxidant with radical scavenging activity towards DPPH and superoxide. It also shows a suppressive effect on the expression of vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1) in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) induced by tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). It is also an insecticidal agent.
