    SEE ALSO...

Punctin Antibody (PU29Z) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2b antibody that detects the Punctin protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-Punctin antibody (PU29Z) is available as the non-conjugated format. Punctin, also known as Punctin-1 or ADAMTS-like protein 1 (ADAMTSL-1), is a secreted, glycosylated protein that plays a crucial role in extracellular matrix turnover, which is vital for tissue homeostasis and repair. Punctin (PU29Z) antibody recognizes a protein primarily located in the extracellular matrix of skeletal muscle, where Punctin contributes to structural integrity and matrix function. Punctin is characterized by a unique structure including a signal peptide, four thrombospondin type-1 repeats (TSRs), a cysteine-rich domain, and a spacer region, which collectively facilitate interactions within the extracellular environment. O-fucosylation of the TSR repeats is a significant post-translational modification that regulates Punctin secretion, highlighting the importance of glycosylation in functional activity. Punctin is closely related to the larger ADAMTS-like protein, Punctin-2, and shares similarities with the invertebrate protein papilin. Two isoforms of Punctin exist due to alternative splicing, with isoform 1 representing the full-length mature protein, while isoform 2 is truncated and contains a distinct sequence, underscoring the complexity and regulatory mechanisms governing expression and function.
