PTH-rP Antibody (1D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects PTH-rP protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry with paraffin-embedded sections (IHCP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). PTH-rP (1D1) antibody is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. The parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTH-rP) plays a crucial role in regulating endochondral bone development and is involved in epithelial-mesenchymal interactions, particularly during the formation of mammary glands and teeth. Unlike parathyroid hormone (PTH), which is exclusively synthesized by parathyroid cells, PTH-rP is produced by a variety of cell types, highlighting diverse physiological roles. PTH-rP is particularly significant in humoral hypercalcemia of malignancy, where PTH-rP mimics PTH effects, leading to elevated calcium levels in the blood. Both PTH and PTH-rP are influenced by vitamin D and steroid hormones, and exert effects by binding to specific PTH/PTH-rP receptors, subsequently activating signaling pathways such as adenylate cyclase or phospholipase C beta via protein kinase C activation. PTH-rP′s ability to regulate calcium metabolism and involvement in critical developmental processes make PTH-rP an important target for research and therapeutic applications.

Can sc-53936: PTH-rP (1D1) monoclonal antibody be used to stain formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue sections?

Asked by: Cweed
Thank you for your question. Yes, sc-53936: PTH-rP (1D1) is recommended for use in IHC with paraffin-embedded sections. We recommend performing antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6) and heat. The full protocol can be found here: https://www.scbt.com/scbt/resources/protocols/immunoperoxidase-staining
