PRP8 Antibody (E-5) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PRP8 of mouse, rat, and human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Anti-PRP8 antibody (E-5) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PRP8, also known as pre-mRNA-processing-splicing factor 8, is a highly conserved nuclear protein that serves as a central component of the spliceosome′s catalytic core, playing a crucial role in the splicing of pre-mRNA. PRP8′s function is vital for gene expression regulation, as PRP8 facilitates the precise removal of introns and the joining of exons, thereby ensuring the production of mature mRNA. PRP8 is involved in transesterification reactions that are essential for spliceosome-induced pre-mRNA splicing, specifically interacting with the GU dinucleotide at the 5′ splice site and forming a UV-inducible cross-link. PRP8′s interaction with the 3′ splice site significantly influences the efficiency of the second catalytic step of splicing. Mutations in PRP8 that disrupt regulatory functions can lead to splicing defects, highlighting PRP8′s importance in maintaining proper gene expression. PRP8 interacts with a conserved region of U6, which is critical for the formation of the spliceosome′s catalytic core, underscoring PRP8′s integral role in the splicing process.
