Protein C Antibody (AMPC-9072) is a rat monoclonal IgG antibody that detects Protein C in mouse samples through western blotting (WB). Protein C is a crucial vitamin K-dependent plasma protein synthesized in the liver, consisting of two polypeptide chains. Anti-Protein C antibody (AMPC-9072) plays a vital role in studying the regulation of blood coagulation, where Protein C acts as an anticoagulant; upon activation by thrombin bound to an endothelial surface receptor, Protein C enzymatically cleaves activated forms of coagulation Factors V and VIII, thereby inhibiting excessive blood clotting. The structure of Protein C is notably similar to that of the prothrombin group of coagulation factors, which underscores the evolutionary conservation of these proteins in maintaining hemostatic balance. In healthy individuals, the normal concentration of Protein C in human plasma ranges from approximately 1-3 ng/ml, while the proenzyme concentration is around 3 µg/ml. Deficiencies in Protein C can lead to inherited thrombophilia, a rare genetic disorder that increases the risk of venous thrombosis and complications such as habitual abortion, highlighting the significance of this protein in both coagulation pathways and overall vascular health.
