Prostaglandin F is a major uterine prostaglandin that has been shown to cause contraction of vascular, bronchial, intestinal, myometrial smooth muscle, and to inhibit adipocyte differentiation. Research has demonstrated that PGF inhibits nitric oxide production by the uterine tissue, increases uterine contractility, and displays potent luteolytic activity. Prostaglandin F is an activator of PGFR.
