QUICK LINKS
Prostaglandin E2 p-benzamidophenyl ester is a crystalline derivative of PGE2 (sc-201225) that is esterified at the carboxylic acid moiety. PGE2 is one of the primary COX products of arachidonic acid (sc-200770), that asserts a plethora of biological activity through binding to the type E prostaglandin receptors; EP1,2,3, and 4. Selective antagonists of a particular EP receptor sub-type have been exceptionally difficult to produce, therefore structure-activity studies are important to determine the binding characteristics of PGE2 to these EP receptors in order to develop novel selective EP antagonists. Prostaglandin E2 p-acetamidophenyl ester could potentially be used in structure-activity studies to determine ways to selectively antagonize specific EP receptor sub-types.
