    SEE ALSO...

pro-MCH Antibody (1D1) is a mouse monoclonal IgG2a kappa light chain antibody that detects pro-MCH protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-pro-MCH antibody (1D1) is available as the non-conjugated form. Melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) is a 19 amino acid cyclic neuropeptide derived from a 165 amino acid pro-MCH precursor, which also includes a 144 amino acid mature MCH and two additional neuropeptides, glycine-glutamic acid (NGE) and glutamic acid-isoleucine (NEI). Primarily expressed in the hypothalamus, MCH plays a crucial role in regulating various physiological processes, including feeding behavior, aggression, anxiety, arousal, and reproductive function by influencing the release of luteinizing hormone (LH). The structure of MCH is particularly important as its cyclic nature allows for specific receptor interactions, which are essential for biological activity. The melanin-concentrating hormone receptor (MCHR, also known as SLC-1) is a glycosylated G protein-coupled receptor that mediates MCH effects through Gαi and/or Gαq signaling pathways. MCHR is expressed in several brain regions, including the cerebral cortex, amygdala, thalamus, and hypothalamus, and has been implicated in stimulating leptin expression and secretion in adipocytes. This suggests that both MCH and MCHR may serve as potential targets for therapeutic strategies aimed at modulating obesity and related metabolic disorders.

Hello, Would this antibody work for Immunofluorescence on rat brain section?

    Asked by: Abhinav
Thank you for your question. Our pro-MCH Antibody (1D1): sc-293231 is only recommended for detection of pro-MCH of human origin by WB, IP and ELISA. There is no data that would indicate that this antibody also works with samples from rat.

For Western Blot, is it recommended to use denatured or non-denatured conditions with pro-MCH (1D1): sc-293231 antibody?

    Asked by: Germaine
Thank you for your question. We recommend this antibody for use in denatured Western Blot conditions. It has not been validated for use in non-denatured conditions. Please contact our Technical Service Department for further details or inquiries.
