QUICK LINKS

Potassium stearate exhibits the characteristics of being a white, waxy, crystalline substance with a mild, fatty scent. It is derived from stearic acid, a naturally occurring fatty acid present in various animal and plant fats and oils. The underlying principle behind the action of potassium stearate lies in its possession of both hydrophobic and hydrophilic properties, enabling it to interact with both water and non-polar molecules. The hydrophobic part of the molecule is thought to be responsible for its emulsifying properties, while the hydrophilic part is attributed to its lubricating capabilities.
