Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a strong alkaline compound that exists as a white, odorless solid. It is an inorganic base and an ionic compound formed by the combination of potassium (K+) and hydroxide (OH-) ions. Potassium hydroxide is highly soluble in water, resulting in a strongly alkaline solution. Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is used for the preparation of buffers and reagents in molecular biology and biochemistry experiments.
