PMVK Antibody (H-9) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 kappa light chain antibody that detects PMVK protein of human origin by western blotting (WB), immunoprecipitation (IP), immunofluorescence (IF), and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). anti-PMVK antibody (H-9) is available in both non-conjugated and various conjugated forms, including agarose, horseradish peroxidase (HRP), phycoerythrin (PE), fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC), and multiple Alexa Fluor® conjugates. PMVK, or phosphomevalonate kinase, is a crucial 192 amino acid enzyme located in peroxisomes, where PMVK plays a vital role in cholesterol biosynthesis through the mevalonate pathway. Specifically, PMVK catalyzes the conversion of mevalonate 5-phosphate to mevalonate 5-diphosphate, which is a key step in producing isopentenyl diphosphate, a precursor for cholesterol and other isoprenoids. This enzymatic activity is essential for maintaining cellular membrane integrity and synthesizing steroid hormones, underscoring PMVK′s importance in metabolic processes. The gene encoding PMVK is situated on human chromosome 1, which is notable for being the largest human chromosome, encompassing over 3,000 genes and approximately 260 million base pairs, thus constituting about 8% of the human genome.
