Datasheets
  • Pma Antibody (BDI134) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 Pma antibody provided at 100 µg/ml
  • raised against Pma of human origin
  • recommended for detection of human prostate mucin antigen (PMA) of human origin by WB and IF; non cross-reactive with fetal or benign prostate specimens, non-prostate carcinomas and normal human tissue
  • At present, we have not yet completed the identification of the preferred secondary detection reagent(s) for Pma Antibody (BDI134). This work is in progress.

Pma Antibody (BDI134) is a mouse monoclonal IgG1 antibody that detects the Pma protein of human origin by western blotting (WB) and immunofluorescence (IF). Anti-Pma antibody (BDI134) is available as the non-conjugated format. Prostate cancer, which ranks as the ninth most common cancer globally and is the leading non-skin cancer affecting men in the United States, arises when prostate cells undergo mutations and proliferate uncontrollably. These malignant cells can metastasize to various regions, including the bones, lymph nodes, rectum, and bladder. The identification of unique proteins associated with prostate tumors is crucial for effective diagnosis and treatment, with prostate-specific antigen (PSA) being the most reliable clinical marker. Prostate mucin antigen (Pma) is particularly significant as Pma is exclusively expressed in prostate carcinomas and cow submaxillary glands. This high molecular weight glycoprotein features an O-linked oligosaccharide that includes N-acetyl galactosamine, contributing to mucin-like characteristics. Pma expression in prostate tumors not only aids in diagnosis but also highlights potential value as a tumor marker, especially given specificity to prostate cancer, which can help differentiate malignant from benign conditions.
